**- Official -** Results for Event 12 Held on 10/17/1999 at Nazareth Speedway
"A GTI and a Saturn Beat the Miata in PAX"
My Sunday Morning probably started out like everyone else, FOG CITY. The fog was so thick that I missed the exit to 22 of 78, thanks to Robin who was following me saw the exit and we both made it. Then as we were driving on 22 we were both in the left lane in the construction zone when all of a sudden out of the fog Robin was confronted with an Arrow truck, the trucks that have the get out of this lane arrow flashing on the back, at 60 mph and 100 foot visibility we were quite surprised. Nazareth was IFR, for all you non aviators means Insrument Flight Rules, most of the way through the first heat. By the second heat the fog had cleared and stayed that way till the end of the day.
Thanks to Paul Z. and company for setting a very nice Naz course. You first went left, of course then right into a four cone decreasing distant slaloms to an ES left hander. Then around the loop and back through the slaloms towards the truck. Just in front of the truck you were confronted by a very fast zig-zag that was almost flat out but not quite. Then you went for a right hand turn into a Chicago box, back the right again and straight on to the finish. I liked the configuration and I hope that Paul continues in setting good course next weekend. I would recommend that we store this one away for an event next year.
With the season winding down with one more event to go there are some point battles that were wrapped up today and there were some the just got closer. Today we had 88 drivers and it seems that every event we add a few more newbies, today I think there were about 8. There are no trophies awarded this year in AMOD but the Drexel Dragon was out again for another spin. Tony Zecca was the fastest of the Dragon drivers with a 51.004. Jeff Perry came down to show off his modified Fiero in AP. In AS Bart Enz was not driving today but did keep us warm with Chilli and Dogs for lunch. Bart already wrapped up the title last event. Today in AS Justin Bedard took his second win of the year over Bob Gill and Jonathan Trudel. In BS Perry Aidelbaum took first over Jeff Lloyd. Perry has the championship wrapped up with Ketih Klass in firm second but if George Z. does not come to the next event it looks like Jeff Lloyd will take third. Joe Perlo was the only BSPer today having already wrapped up the points lead. Jim Sokalsky took CMOD. It looks like Bob Miller takes the Championship away from car owner Mark Sirota. Hey Bob didn't anyone tell you that this is a no-no? In CS Bill O'Toole III (Son) beat Bill O'Toole (Father) even though he had to deal with the morning fog. Father is in the lead by 1 championship point. Who will be the champion this year? Sean Christie took CSP today by a full second over the rest of the field and wraps up the series points lead. In DS Bill Sherwood gets his first win this year over Mike Hare. Tony Savini already wrapped up the win in DS but with this win Bill jumps into second with Mike a close third. This will be a battle to see who will be second Mike the car owner or Bill the car borrower? Ken buck won again in DSP over Tom Jarvis and also wraps up the championship. James Kuhlman takes EMOD. Bob Frank takes EP and the EP championship away from his son who has not been to the last few events due to college. We hope to see both you guys fight it out next summer. ES has been the closest battle the past few years with Scott and Steven both ending up last year tied with Scott taking the win because of more 1st's than Steven. This year will not be the same as of the last event I (Steven) was 2 points ahead until Scott won today making us tied for the year. It all comes down to the next event with the winner taking the lead and the championship. Good Luck Scott, I'm praying for Rain. Another close battle is ESP with Ian's win today he is only 2 points behind Aaron Fry for the lead and not only do you have to win next event but Aaron has to come in 3rd or be a no show. In F125 Dave Mueller
in his Ekart, that's Electric Kart gave us a good showing and made the workers keep their eyes open because Electrics do not have exhaust noise so you can not hear it coming. Clair Smith had his best showing all year finishing in the top 8 in pax. Jonathan Rush wins FS and also the championship. Jeff MacRae wins GS over Edmund Brooks to take the championship. Rob Johnson Jr. beat Vlad Kozlovsky to take the win in HS as well as lock up the points lead for 99. SS Joe Savukinas beat Steve Landstra by .8 to take the win and the championship. ST1 is close with Tony Powell 3 points behind after today's win over Patric Goss, who is in the championship lead. I'm sorry to say that there were no ladies competing in todays competition but Candida Maust still stays in the lead in Ladies Class.
